Need some creative ideas
«

A couple of weeks ago we went to a church where the new senior minister is an old friend of ours. After preaching about the parable of the talents every family received a $50 bill to see what we could do. In 6 months we are to bring back the $50 and any increase for the building fund.
Some of the ideas given were to invest it, use the $50 to advertise a garage sale, host a gourmet dinner for donations, etc.
We're having trouble coming up with an idea that doesn't involve sales tax ID #'s, health inspectors & the like.
Anyone have any ideas?

Ma,
I once supported a "no chicken chicken dinner". The premise was thus.
Beautiful invitations were sent out for a wonderful banquet. Except that as you read along you realized that the dinner wasn't going to take place.
The invitation worded it that you were invited to dinner and a speaker for a good cause, but that as nobody really wanted to dress up, and who really likes chicken, and speaker fees are expensive, the charity would appreciate it if you felt so inclined, to make a donation straight to the charity.
If you googled it, you could find a better explanation.
So I am thinking a few dollars in invitations you print on your own, and the rest in postage, and see who supports your cause, just because they like you.
I know I'd send you money!
Just a thought!

Does your return have to be monetary? How about doing an education or awareness campaign on something, where the return is not $ but that more people ___________ (fill in the blank)

Kathleen,
I like your idea too but it's for the building fund.
In 6 months we are to bring back the $50 and any increase for the building fund.

We have a building fund, too, so I know the pressure that comes with trying to raise a lot of money.
One of the ladies in our church collects mugs that people are tired of and plants them with small flowers and plants and sells them for $5 each.
She is also collecting unwanted jewelry and old coins and sells them to antique stores or coin shops. But with the jewelry and coins, the one who donated them gets the credit on their tithe receipts.
My God bless you in your effort, and in the building of a new place to worship Him.
