: Prayers for DD
: blessingsindisguise March 28, 2011, 11:42:28 PM
Please pray for DD.

She's been having chest pain and heart palpitations.  It's been documented at school, so she has an appointment tomorrow with the doctor.  I don't think it's anything serious, probably anxiety attacks, but it is still concerning.

It's also hard as she has to go to this appointment without me.  No matter what she has done, she is still my kiddo, and it is so hard not to be able to go to these appointments with her.

My heart aches.

Will be praying.  It's hard when you can't be there when your kids are sick.  Hope it settles down quickly for her and you.

I am so angry.  And hurt.

 :'(

The RTC has not called me to let me know what went on at the appointment.

I am still the mama.

Simple common courtesy would dictate better treatment.

So sorry... can you call them and find out???  You must be very worried.

Thinking of your DD and you....

: Re: Prayers for DD
: blessingsindisguise March 29, 2011, 10:17:41 PM
It's too late to call.

They have a house full of girls that are in bed.  The phone ringing this late wouldn't be good.

Just so so disappointed.

That is their problem. They should have called you so you call them and find out.

I agree with NW.  Institutions tend to take the "If you don't hear from us everything is fine," approach AFTER they stand every hair on end by telling you something like "heart palpatations".  Sheesh.  Make them be responsible for THEIR part...they put you on alert, they can relieve you of it!

It is your child's health you are concerned with, not what they had for dinner.  ::) ::) CALL.  :nike:

Thanks friends.

Sent an e mail this morning to the house teachers and clinical supervisor.  The house teachers were off Monday night and it was the Assistant House teacher that told me I would get a call last night.

I am guessing that the message didn't get passed on.

Not feeling well enough to call and deal with this.

Deep sigh.

I so hope you hear back soon.  You don't need to add this stress to your current physical state!!!

Please do your best to stay positive!  (((((((hugs))))))

Got an e mail from the house teacher this morning.  They were waiting for results before they called me.

The house mom just called me and DD17 has some abnormalities in her EKG.  She is being referred to the children's hospital for an ekho cardio gram on Friday.

I have asked for permission to go with her to this appointment.  The house teacher is going to ask her supervisor if it would be ok.

Please pray that they will let me go.

Thanks for all of your prayers.

Echocardiograms aren't so bad.  Just a sonogram of the heart, really.  My youngest was born with two heart murmurs a VSD and PFO.  They monitored them with the Echo.  Abnormalities can be something small like a murmur.  My 5 lives with one and it doesn't really affect his life much.  I just have to watch him with extreme physical activity to make sure his blood stays oxygenated.

However, I do know I would want to be there.   Why is it that you have to ask?  Am I being naive again?

I'll pray they let you attend.

neitlingme,

I had to get permission to go as my daughter is a ward of the state, and I am no longer her legal guardian.  The RTC approves all contact and outings.  I found out this afternoon that I will be allowed to meet my daughter and her house teacher at the hospital and accompany her.

And I am not concerned about the echo, as I am a nurse, I am just terrified of what we could find out.  I am trying very hard not to borrow trouble, but it is just so scary.  It's going to be a long two days until she can have the test.

These are the days I hate being a nurse.  I simply know too much.

Hoping they let you go.  I'm sure dd will feel better having you there as well.  Hang in there blessings.  May be hard knowing more, but you are a better advocate for dd because of it.

: Re: Prayers for DD
: momof3 March 31, 2011, 06:53:05 AM
Blessings, I don't understand.  She is your dd.  How can they stop you from going?   Is it because she is in RTC that she is now a ward of the state?  You adopted her.  If you have no rights as a mother, why do they demand so much of you?  ???

Praying things go well.   :coffee2:

: Re: Prayers for DD
: neitlingme March 31, 2011, 07:32:51 AM
I do understand that Blessings.  I tend to be the same way.  Even if I TELL you that you shouldn't worry.  I would.

As far as the nurse thing and knowledge goes, I understand that too.  (Besides having a BA in psych, I also have an Associates in vet tech!)  Knowing "possibilities" can make your mind race.  BUT also keep in mind what you TELL your patients...it isn't always something bad!!!  (I didn't have to tell my patients, but I did have to tell their owners/caregivers which was just as bad!)  Sometimes knowing keeps the bad from happening.  I know you know all this, but in my case it doesn't hurt to be reminded.

I'll be with you in thoughts and prayers.  What time?  I'd like to set my alarm.

: Re: Prayers for DD
: blessingsindisguise March 31, 2011, 08:04:02 AM
neitlingme, the appointment is at 1.  I will definitely post when I get back.

Also talked to sweetpea20 last night and she is going to call her OB and get a baseline EKG.  As she and DD are siblings, if there is any chance of anything being wrong, I want her checked out.

And momof3, DD was made a ward of the state when she got involved with the court system.  My parental rights haven't been terminated, but in reality, it doesn't matter.  I have no rights.  I am asked my opinion, but that is the end of it.

As for accompanying DD to doctor's appointments, at least her house teachers keep me informed.  DS's house teachers never let me know what was going on.  I would only find out after the fact when I would get the insurance notice.

Now that I have gotten permission to go to this appointment, I am sure that I will be allowed to go to the rest of them.  The RTC does realize that I care and that I am only supportive of their treatment plan, even when I don't agree.

Thanks all for your support.  It means so much.

We will get the results back on Monday.

It will be a long weekend waiting to hear.

Inspite of how much you missed going on your trip this could very well be the reason you are in town ... hopefully this made a difference for you and your daughter.

I had the alarm set.  I said a prayer at 1..

And tonight, I send you a touch of my strength (I've been better the last day or two and have some to spare!)

I'm here if you need anything.

Bizzzie,

Great minds think alike.  As bummed as I was not to be able to get out of town, I am so very thankful that I was in town to go to the Children's Hospital with DD.  She was scared and needing some mama time.  We were able to hang out a little, and that was great.  And I would have been going out of my mind today if I was 650 miles away and not in town to go with.

And kudos to her house teacher.  Big time.  House teacher told her that she was glad that I came because she is a great house teacher but not the mama, and that DD needed her mama.  As we walked out and I was talking to DD, the house teacher told DD "I wish I could get you to see how lucky you are.  After everything that has happened, your mom loves you very much and is still here for you."

:love4:  I could have hugged the stuffing out of her!

and neitlingme,  thank you so much for your prayers.

This board is such a life line to me.  I gain so much strength from all of you.

Thank you.

Blessings - Hoping for good results.  What a great example of "all things working together for good".  Don't you love it when you see staff that gets it and helps point our kiddos toward the family?  So glad you had this time with your dd.  Who knows, maybe this will be something that helps turn her around.  You are such a good mom!

Any news re: DD?

: Re: Prayers for DD
: blessingsindisguise April 02, 2011, 04:34:51 PM
clbmom,

Won't know anything until Monday.  The test was late enough Friday afternoon that I knew that there was no way that the results would get read, transcribed, and then faxed to DD's doctor.

And even then, I am not sure when I will hear.  The RTC house teachers will get called and told the results, not me.  So depending on when they get the call and what is going on in the house, I may not hear until late Monday when they have time to call.

I will definitely keep you posted.

No news.  I hate it when people tell me when something will be done and then it doesn't happen.

It just drives me bonkers.

Another day of waiting.

Deep sigh.

Hello all!

got the results back and the echocardiogram is normal.

I am so so thankful.

They are not sure what is causing the problem, but I think it's possible she is having anxiety attacks.

Thank you all so much for your warm thoughts and prayers.

Wonderful news blessings.  Anxiety attacks are miserable, but so much better than heart problems.  Hope you can relax for a bit.   :coffee2:

I'm so glad it was ok, Blessings!

Panic attacks although miserable, can be handled easier than heart problems!

Hoping you are ok too.  I know you had to have been on pins and needles there for a while.

: Re: Prayers for DD
: blessingsindisguise April 05, 2011, 10:05:33 PM
and true and neitlingme,

If anybody deserves to be having panic attacks, it's my DD!

After all the drama she has caused, it could be kharma!

I am not wishing ill on her, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't come as a huge surprise to me.  She has been so very naughty.

And strangely, it gives me hope that maybe she does have a conscience.  That this could be bothering her, it could be a good thing.  Maybe a small chink in her armor.

We have a therapy session next week, it will be interesting to sort this out with her.
