Trauma Headquarters and ADSG

My Uncle just underwent emergency surgery on his bowels and colon today.  He is in his mid 80s.  Please pray for God's presence to strengthen my Uncle, for his immune system to kick in and his colon to heal properly, for healing as God wills.  Please also pray for my Aunt as my Uncle is her joy and her other half, and my parents  as this is Mom's only sister and BIL and my Dad is an only child so these are his sister and brother.

Talked to my Mom last night.  My Uncle has a hole in his bowel and it has been fixed but he is still under heavy sedation.  Apparently he's had the problem for awhile and was misdiagnosed with Parkinson's.  My Aunt took him to more than 7 drs in the last few months and no one could see what the problem was until now. The nurses are relieved that he responds on his own and even grimaced when his Granddaughter played some 'awful' music, though he has yet to be fully conscious.  Right now it's 50/50.  Uncle Bill knows and loves the Lord, but it's still hard to might have to say, 'see ya later.'  Please keep praying for all of us. And thank you, again.

No news is good news.  My Uncle hasn't spoken yet, but is responding with a gentle squeeze back with his hand.  Everyone else is doing okay.

Need also, prayers for Dh, please.  His high school friend that we've known for years just had a massive heart attack and died.  The funeral is Monday.  Ds15 is going to autism camp that week and Dd17 will be 'hanging out' with friends.  Please keep Dh in your prayers.  He's been asked to give the eulogy and to be a pallbearer.  He hasn't said much and is showing the 'stiff upper lip,' but he is breaking on the inside.

Thanks all for your support and prayers.  Things have been rather challenging.  My Uncle was moved out of intensive care, but still could go either way due to his age.  The funeral for Dh's friend was today and Dh is doing much better now that we're through it all. Ds15 did well the first day of camp and my SIL was on phone standby in case he melted down (he was anxious and needed a hug, but did well!).   Dd17 is feeling rather sorry for herself as we are not arranging her March Break, and spent the day at the library.  Dh also has the rest of this week off for holidays and to be on standby for Ds15 while at day camp.  This means that Dh will have time to rest - something he really needs. 

Again, thank you all for your prayers.  We are so very much appreciating you all!

My Uncle is still in the hospital, but holding his own.  Dh is doing much better having a week off and was really appreciative of the prayers.  God is so very good, that despite all we've had on our plate, God put so many blessings in our path.  Thanks again for the prayers and support.

Hi!  I've got two prayer requests if you can squeeze these in, it'd be much appreciated.

My Uncle is again undergoing surgery, this time on his hip.  I'm not sure as my cousin didn't have time to talk as he was getting my Aunt to the hospital, but I'm wondering if he fell while walking.

Secondly is for my Niece-In-Law as she's pregnant and due in September but the tubes supplying food to the baby are not doing their job.  She's in the hospital right now and they are trying to boost her nutrient levels.  They are hoping for her to carry another 6-8 weeks.  If not, they'll have to do a c-section and that wee one is struggling as it is. 

When it rains, it pours, but God is always and forever good and faithful.  He's got a plan, so all I can do right now is pray.

My nephew texted me from the hospital earlier.  His baby girl and Mom are okay for now.  They may have a diagnosis of downs syndrome but it's too early to tell.  While Dh and I know that these kiddos are just needing to be loved in a different way, this may be a whole new way for this young couple to learn to love.  Please keep them in your prayers.

No news yet on my Uncle.  His surgery was at 3:00 p.m.  Thanks for the prayers, please keep them coming.

Wee Sophia Sara made her way into the world by c-section around noon today weighing just over 1 lb.  Mom is still in recovery as she was sedated but is doing alright.  The placenta was causing toxicity and they did an emerg. c-section. Wee Sopia has a huge battle for the next 4 days.  Drs say if she makes it past the next 4 days, she will have an 80% chance of making it.  Please keep praying.  My Grand-niece is the size of my tiny hand.  Please pray for the wee one, these young parents, and for the whole family.

My Uncle's surgery was postponed until today ... no news yet so we're hoping he's improved enough that he doesn't need it.

we will keep her in our prayers. We have friends who adopted a baby who weighed 17 oz. at birth. It is amazing watching her grow.

My Uncle made it through surgery and barring no blood clots will once again be on the mend!  That man is amazing!

My Grand-niece (love saying that!) is on day 2.5 in this world and so far so good.  Momma is being released from the hospital and trying to find a hotel close by that won't break the bank (they live within the 78km radius so Ronald McDonald House is out).  But, so far so good!!  Wee Sophia Sara is making it.

Update?

At this point all I can say is that wee Sophia is growing and is continuing to take in breast milk through a tube.  They've been allowed to hold her skin-to-skin since last Friday.  My nephew hasn't said any more about her development, but so far things are okay.  Please keep them in your prayers for the relationship between the parents to be strengthened and for them to keep God at the centre.  In-laws are not always as supportive as they think they are. 

My Uncle is doing well and is once again recovering from surgery.  As my cousin - his eldest son - put it, "he's one tough ol' bird!"   :happy8: Glad that he said it and not me!!!  :laughing6: :laughing6:

Thanks for the good news. Glad things are going steadily along with Sofia and that your uncle is getting better, too.

So glad the news is good on both fronts, Anne.  One less worry for you and happy family all around. 

Wee Sophia has dropped some in weight and fluids - now 1lb 6 oz.  Her sugar levels have come up. But the nurses say she is putting on weight slowly and solidly, so that is good.  She's up to 9ccs every 2 hours of breast milk through tubes and hopefully today getst the IV out.  They tried to remove the oxygen but that did not go well.  Sophia had a rough day yesterday, but is doing better today.  Her thumbnail is the size of a letter "o," and her upper thigh is the width of my thumb.  She is the smallest in the NICU.  But, she is officially  16 days old now!  Thanks for keeping such a wee one in your prayers.

Just got word that my Uncle passed away today.  Funeral is this weekend.  Please keep us in your prayers as the last funeral was not good with our darlins.  On the good side, my grandniece is now level 2 and we can hold her.  She's been transferred to a local hospital.  Blessings and tears, God is so very good.

That is wonderful news about Sophia. Is she close by so that you can go visit and hold her yourself?

Funeral was very hard.  My Aunt made it through, but barely.  She is not doing so well.  Her oldest son is also fighting cancer - he's the one who lost his wife in the spring.  Kiddos did well.  Dd18 chose not to go to the viewing before the funeral and stayed with her Grandma in another room.  She barely made it through the funeral service, shaking her arms, snapping her wrists, cracking her neck, etc.  She made it through the cemetery.  Ds15 was wonderful, holding onto me, cuddling, looking for reassurance, going to the viewing, paying his respects at the grave site, and being supportive of everyone.  Later he put his feet in his mouth, only opening it to change feet, but meh!  He did the right things at the right time and that was important. 

We went to a waterpark and hotel for 2 nights afterwards to help kiddos readjust before going back to school tomorrow. We'll have to rice/beans it for quite awhile to pay it off, but it was worth it because at least Ds15 is doing well.  Dd18 is hitting the highs/lows of the rollercoaster but gave a soft hug tonight.  Dh and I are battening down the hatches because this was too easy with her and school's just begun. 

I'm slowly processing all this, but a blessing happened:  my Aunt and cousins for the FIRST TIME really showed me that they understood what we are going through and were so wonderful in the midst of their grief, telling me how well the kiddos did and how much they were supporting us.  I needed that.

Thanks again for the prayers - God's grace is what got us through, on the wings of your wonderful love and support.  Thanks.
