Luis is here in St. Louis as a guest / patient of Healing the Children - MO. He is scheduled for open heart surgery today (unless anything has changed). I don't think I'm on the "notify ASAP" list - I'll have to check in tomorrow to get news, most likely, but... please keep Luis and his mom Delmy in your prayers today. What an incredible and intimidating journey from a small town in El Salvador to a city in the US, all totally dependent on others, nothing really in her control, no English, the whole trip and stay very intimidating and frightening, plus the worries of surgery, AND she left a five or six year old daughter at home with her mom. Oh, and no hubby - I think the guy ran out on her when she was 7 months pg with Luis.

Delmy is very sweet and friendly, and Luis is adorable - I'm sure he'll be even more so when he's feeling better.

**I just started volunteering with HTC-MO. I visit with the Spanish speaking families that are here, and take them fun places, since I speak Spanish, and they don't speak English. There are currently three such families here.

From Healing the Children:

Quote
Luis’ surgery went well. Delmy is a bit overwhelmed as he has many tubes/machines and is still intubated. hoping she gets some good rest in the parent lounge tonight.

Claudia is still in the hospital as well. Maria, her mom, is so very sweet and patient … but I know is ready to be back at Haven House.

Claudia is 3 and has been sick with a respiratory infection since she arrived here last Wed. Her legs failed to develop (think twisted feet, almost attached directly where thighs should be) and I think she is here to have both legs amputated - not sure what's in store after that. I'm very new at volunteering here, and with sicknesses and surgery, the lady who handles the admin part of things is really busy and I don't want to bother her too much to get more details. *I'm* not the one who really needs to know, anyway.

Please keep us posted.  Our prayers are still coming forth for these children and their safe return home. Prayers for their parents ;who need God's arms around them now.
