Trauma Headquarters and ADSG

Friends, please lift my DD up in your prayers.

She has been injured at Marine Boot Camp.  I do not know details.  Just that she has been dropped to a medical platoon for rehab.  She is under the care of a doctor and will get daily therapy and strengthening.  She is very discouraged.

Please pray that this is only a bump in the road and not a derailment.

Ugh.   She is being "re-verted".   My SWP had 2 or 3 in his unit who had to do this, 2 because of injuries.   Its the younger ones who got hurt, often because they are more confident they can tolerate boot camp and so do not work out physically and prepare.   My son was 29, so he worked out like crazy for 6 months before.

The reverted ones all joined the next class coming up or the one after, depending on how fast they healed.   Your dd being RAD of course, just makes everything more difficult, including tolerating set backs and disappointments.    I am so sorry to hear this happened as I know it probably adds to your stress in general.

The Marines WANT her to make it.....so lets just hope she gets the message from them and uses her Rad stubborness to hang in there.   :-\    :nike:

Her recruiter has been great.  He got to talk to her yesterday and let me know she was in good hands.  There is also a support group for Marine parents in my area, and he got on fb and asked them to send her cards and letters.  Then the other recruiter posted on the fb page for the kids waiting to go to camp to have letters written and in hand when they next saw him on Tuesday.

I work at a hospital so getting a get well card was a snap, and that went out yesterday.  Dear ol dad wrote a letter from work, and my parents got a card in the mail.  Then today I printed off all the well wishes on fb and dropped those in the mail.

If nothing else, this kid is going to get a bunch of mail from people that care about her.  I am hoping that this will help see her through this bump in the road.

When my "extra son" (best friend of my 2 oldest while growing up) when through boot camp he was on medical for a bit too. He made it through eventually. Prayers for your daughter to make it also.

Heard from DD today.  No news about  being hurt.

Just that she is homesick, misses us, is sorry she has been so awful, and please please please write.
