: Psych Appointment Today at 2:20
: anne September 16, 2014, 12:15:26 PM
Please pray as I'm bringing Ds16 to his psych appointment at the hospital today.  The worker is also coming with us.  Please pray that Ds16 shows up for the appointment, that the psych. helps things and doesn't hinder, that Ds16 will be calm for the appointment and meeting with this new worker (who is now also coming on-board), that I will be acting as His arms, mouth, and feet so that His glory will be shown.  I know it's a lot, and thank you!

Keeping your intentions in my prayers today.   :love7:

Update:
1. Please pray that Ds16 shows up for the appointment:  YES!
2. That the psych. helps things and doesn't hinder:  YES!
3. That Ds16 will be calm for the appointment and meeting with this new worker (who is now also coming on-board): RAD anxious but polite.... YES!
4. That I will be acting as His arms, mouth, and feet so that His glory will be shown:  YES!!  (A big yes as my mouth has a mind of it's own, but NOT today)  :happy8:

Don't know what will come of all of this, but this new worker is a Christian, she's going to become my prayer partner in all of this, and she GETS Ds16.  Psych. today asked if the organization she works for (Bartemaeus) is like the blind Bartemaeus from the Bible and she said yes.  He KNEW about Bartemaeus. wow.  So, we have a new agency to pursue alongside all this as well as the place we're heading to is a youth group home and the other agency is an RTC.   :)  Quiet hope.
Thanks for the prayers.

Quietly hoping with you!   What did you mean, "the place we are headed to is a group home?"....is he moving out of the shelter?    :coffee2:

Thanks all.
Justine, yes, it's a group home that does residential for 6 mos and is not, as I'd first thought, an RTC.  Psych wants us to pursue another agency that we did try when Ds16 was around 6 yrs old but back then, they weren't interested, brushed us off from the intake to do the next week and then didn't show for the appointment, and when the dr called me for a re-book and apology, yelled at me because I wasn't willing to trust them again.  So, I've asked the case coordinator about all this and am waiting on her.  Regardless, he is not coming home for at least 6 mos IF he agrees to go to this group home.  If not, he'll be asked to leave the shelter and be on the streets as he cannot come home without treatment.  Hopefully he gets this.

Please keep praying as we have that meeting for the intake at Frontenac on the 24th.  We're seeing God's hand in all this, but the more that are praying for our son, the better.  Thanks.

I will keep praying. It's good to hear that there are people who seem to understand and that there are others doing some of the work for you.

Ds16 is in at Frontenac as of tomorrow morning!!!   All the time, God is good!  He needs care that we cannot provide.  He is telling us he is not sure he wants to come home in the spring.  We'll face that bridge when we get to it. We'll also tell them at family counseling.  So, while he is still stealing, he will soon be in a safe place that is very much like home.  Thank you for your prayers.

Great news, Anne!   Is Frontenac an RTC?   Group home?

Either way....so glad this is happening NOW....not when he is 18 and the clock stops ticking.

Prayers for an awakening of course.  Prayers for a staff with a CLUE.

He's in!!! He's in!!! He's in!!!!  He's ALL MOVED IN!!!!!  God is so good!
The rules there are beyond what we had at home and certainly much more stringent than at the shelter.  He cannot earn free time because there is none and they are supervised at all times - even going to stores and library (cards are held by the house as per an agreement with the library).

Last night though, he gave us and the shelter staff a scare as he didn't show up until 9PM (supposed to be in before 8PM to keep his bed and was supposed to be packed up before that to be ready for today).  He was made to call us when he got in and we said he had 20 min to pack up - made him mad because he was wanting to take all his "stuff" (read stolen goods) with him and was trying to force that by not being ready for us to pick up his things last night.  Nope.  Didn't work.  But wow!  While at the shelter, Ds16 had accumulated:  1 large box of very expensive teen best seller books, 1 box of full sized action figures, and two backpacks full of toys in value between $20-$40 each.  He stole them.  He won't admit to it.  They are in our garage and we are going to create an itemized list with costs to bring to family therapy.  He is not getting these things.  He is starting school this week in a contained classroom and will be driven/picked up for it.  He is NOT coming home for awhile as I stated that for home visits to happen my level of safety must be to leave my knives out in the kitchen and to not have to lock our bedroom door at night.  I'm game for visits/outings and we'll be seeing him this Monday, Thanksgiving Day here in Canada.

To top it off, Dd19 called us yesterday asking for a 'loan'  ??? ::) :laughing6: of .... $500 to pay for McKay house rent.  Um, no.  But on the heels came Ds16 not showing up and alarm bells went off, so tonight like the good Momma I am, I am "thanking" her CM for giving her a payment plan just to insure that this story is legit.   :angel10:  So helpful am I!

And, so very, very, very, very happy!!!!  Ds16 is in!!!! We really like the staff and the residence.  Today, even though he just moved in, he had anger management in the afternoon.  The rest is up to him.  We've done our job.  We'll go to therapy, but even the manager who did the intake today seems to get that this is going to be long-term or perhaps even not returning home at all.  Oh yay!  I know there will be weepy days ahead, but for now, YAY!

Thanks everyone for the support, on behalf of Dh and myself.  We'd never have made it through without you.

Oh so very happy for you!   I know you still need time to heal, but the relief must be huge!

My favorite part?  "He can't earn free time because there is none...."    :hello2: :hello2: :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:

I love this place already!   I'm sure it won't be perfect, but that is a great policy.

So agree with seeing ds AT the facility or off campus in public places...but NOT your home.  Congrats again!!

A long time coming, Anne.  My favorite part is he might not come home.  Sorry if that's a downer, but at this age and stage it may save your sanity and relationship with ds.  You deserve some peace and healing.  I'm very happy for you.   :love9:

WOW!! That sounds great for your kid and for you.

I would turn all of the items over to the police and let them find the rightful owners. I used to be a police officer and you would not believe how happy people were when they got their stuff back, even after several years of it being gone. Maybe the owner is a business but that way you never have to worry about your child accusing you of keeping the stuff.

I am happy for you and since my RADish 10 year old is just coming back from residential next week I know how much of a relief it is to sleep in peace, not worry about your safety and just stop being hyper vigilant all the time. Of course the idiot caseworkers never understand what you are saying. Their kids are not RAD kids.

Enjoy the peace and get some real rest.

Sherrie

Not only did He find a place, but it sounds as though it is the perfect match for sons needs and yours.

So happy for you and dh.
