I found this blog post which might help explain why our kiddos have trouble around the holidays:

The author states that one reason this time of year is hard for her is that as a child when Christmas break started, she was separated from all of her safe people and routines (school and teachers) and forced to be in her home with her abuser(s), where her needs were not met, for days on end without a break.
