Dalai Lama on People in our Lives

I would love to hear what he has to say specifically about our kids. But advice that's good in one situation, should be universal. Unless the advice came from the 'experts' we work with; who tell us to put our common sense on a shelf and to live counter-intuitively...
This excerpt is from "The Path to Tranquility, Daily Wisdom" by the Dalai Lama.
"Human beings are social animals who depend for their survival on others' cooperation and assistance. So it is better not to have a companion at all than to have one who is very aggressive and harmful. You can never rely on such a person but always have to be suspicious and apprehensive about him or her.
Conversely, if your own character and personality is such that all people avoid you, that is very sad. Therefore, a kind heart and compassion are the real sources of peace and happiness."

Never heard this quote from Dalai Lama. He's a wise man. No question about it.
